Shopping for a New Computer

I’m finally getting around to shopping for a new computer. The old one has got to go because it is definitely impeding my progress. Honestly though, I have been trying to hold off on this purchase because I don’t really have the funds for it right now. In addition, I have been awarded a McKnight Doctoral Fellowship to attend graduate school starting this fall. So there is a chance that I may be surprised with a new computer to go along with the fellowship (this happened to me a few years ago as a McNair Scholar during undergrad, but unfortunately I damaged the computer). I won’t find out about the possible surprise computer until I attend orientation for the fellowship program which is about a week away. In the meantime, I’m stuck hightailing it to the library or suffering with my time sucking, extra slow computer at home.

Making it a Reality

I know it’s been a while since I’ve written about the development of Ciabranel D.A.T.A., but believe me there has been a LOT going on. I don’t even know where to start. I’ve been working like crazy trying to bring everything together. A few days ago, I registered the new business with the State of Florida and I also applied for and received a Federal Tax ID #. Those steps were simple to complete, especially since there was no paperwork involved. But now I’m at the point of developing the company’s website and it has been a pain, especially since my computer is worthless. So far I made a banner (below). It takes me 5x the normal time to do something because my computer is so slow. I go to the library when I can to use a computer, but it’s not always opportune to do so because of scheduling between my job and caring for my puppy Chino. Purchasing a new computer is definitely on my task list, but it’s something that I will not be able to afford for a few months :( .
